Why A Structured Mentorship Program

A structured mentorship program for at-risk youth can provide a range of benefits to the mentees, such as positive role modeling, increased self-esteem and confidence, improved academic performance, enhanced social skills, and a sense of belonging and support. Mentors can serve as trusted adults who offer guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for personal growth and development. Through regular meetings and activities, mentees can build meaningful relationships with their mentors, which can help them navigate challenges and make positive life choices. Overall, a structured mentorship program can have a profound impact on at-risk youth, empowering them to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.

WHAT THEY WILL LEARN

Our nonprofit organization, Speaking 2 Inspire thru Experience, aims to provide mentorship to young people facing challenges in their lives. Our unique system works in four-week increments and is designed to support the mentees in achieving their goals, while also providing incentives for their progress.

Drug And Mental Health Awareness

Youth will participate in a workshop where they will learn about drug abuse and mental health.

Bridging the Gap

This portion of the program involves not only the mentees but their parents as well. Parents and their child will participate in a workshop that will not only be educational but fun. They will learn how to effectively communicate with each other. If a child feels comfortable enough to come to a parent when they are going thru a difficult situation, then the parent may be able to step in and provide help. There are many instances  where communication can prevent an unwanted outcome..

Team Building

Mentees will participate in an escape room adventure which will teach them to work together as a team.

Career Exploration

Mentees will participate in activities that will help them to think about career goals and where they see them selves in the future. By exploring careers early on, teens can identify what industries they feel passionate about and which ones they don’t. This can simplify the process later when deciding on a college major or on a career path. As an adult, you are no longer spending time figuring out what you want to do. Or worst-case scenario, you will not be working a job that does not satisfy your interests and passions..

Community Building /
Civic Engagement

Mentees will learn the importance of giving back to the community. We will participate in something that will allow us to give back.

Civic engagement teaches youth about the democratic process, their rights, and responsibilities as citizens. It empowers them to advocate for themselves and their communities, fostering a sense of agency and empowerment.

Responsibilities & Conflict Resolution

Teaching responsibilities and conflict resolution to at-risk youth is crucial because it equips them with essential life skills that can help break cycles of violence, incarceration, and negative behavior. By understanding their responsibilities, youth learn to take ownership of their actions and choices, leading to more positive decision-making. Conflict resolution skills empower them to manage disagreements peacefully, reducing the likelihood of violence and promoting healthier relationships. Overall, these skills are fundamental for at-risk youth to navigate challenges, build positive futures, and contribute positively to their communities.
